This page takes you from a new account to your first results. Setup is five short steps and you can leave and come back: Prefera remembers the furthest step you reached.

1. Sign up#

  1. Open /signup.
  2. Choose Sign up with Google, or enter your Email and a password of at least 10 characters, then press Create account.
  3. If you used email, open the confirmation link Prefera sends you. If it does not arrive, use Send the link again.

No card is needed until you pick a plan.

2. Set up your brand#

Onboarding shows "Step N of 5" at the top.

  1. Confirm your brand and competitors. Enter your Domain. Prefera reads your site and fills in Brand name, One-line description and Category. Check them. Choose the Answer language, your Main market and any countries under Also track. In Competitors, turn on the ones to compare you against, or add one by domain. Press Continue to questions.
  2. Pick your questions. Prefera lists candidate buyer questions, grouped by buyer stage (Discovery, Comparison, Decision, How-to), and pre-selects some. Untick what you do not want, edit a question with the pencil, or add your own (type one, paste a list, or import a CSV). The counter shows how many you have selected against your plan's limit. Press Continue with N questions.
  3. Approve your facts. The heading is "Drafts can only state what's here." Prefera lists facts it found on your site. Approve the ones that are true today with Approve, or Approve all remaining. Edit or remove any that are wrong, or use Add fact. Press Continue to connections. See Facts and the fact check.
  4. Connect Google (optional). You can connect Google Search Console and Google Analytics 4. Both are read-only. Press Continue, with or without connecting. You can connect later from Integrations.
  5. First run. Review the summary of what Prefera will ask and where. If you have no plan yet, you pick one here and pay to start. See Plans, add-ons and billing.

3. Start the first run#

On the last step, press Start first run. The run asks every selected question on every engine, several times each, and saves each answer.

While it runs you see a progress bar ("N of N answers") and one row per engine that shows Asking and then Done. You can leave the page: the run keeps going. The page says the first results come back in under an hour.

When it finishes, the page tells you in how many answers your brand was named, and how many questions had no answer naming you. Press Go to Answers.

4. Read your results#

Home#

Home ("This week") shows three numbers: AI answers naming you, Google clicks and Domain Rating (labelled Authority score when the Domain Rating is not available). Below them are your best moves for the week. Google clicks and the pages that moved need Google Search Console.

AI answers#

Open AI answers in the sidebar. The list on the left groups your questions as Won, Contested and Losing. Pick one to see its detail on the right.

A question's detail#

  • Named: in how many answers your brand is named, for example "3 of 15 answers". A result based on very few answers is marked as not yet a pattern.
  • Page AI leans on: the page the engines cite most.
  • Competitors named most: who appears instead of you.
  • Engine tabs: one per engine, with the answer text for each sample.
  • Sources: the pages the engines cited.
  • A short diagnosis and a button to start a fix.

5. Next three things#

  1. Start a fix for a question you are losing. Use the button at the bottom of the question's detail, or open Fixes and press Create.
  2. Review your Facts and approve more of what is true. Better facts mean better drafts.
  3. Check Tracking: open Tracking in the sidebar to see which engines are on, how often checks run and which countries are covered. See Questions, answers and engines.

After a fix goes live, Proof re-checks the questions it targeted.
