Create
Make an article, a social post, a reply or an email from your approved facts. Pick a kind, choose what it is about, set length and images, then edit and publish.
Create is where you start a piece. Prefera writes it from your approved facts, checks every sentence against them, and hands it to you to review.
Open Create#
- In the sidebar, open Fixes.
- Click Create (top right).
The Create page lists every kind in four groups: On your site, Social posts, Get mentioned and Republish. Click a kind to open its own screen. The same screen shows a What you'll get box with the format and what happens next.
On a plan without creation yet, the screen says "Creating starts when you pick a plan." If you have view-only access, you can look but not create.
Every piece you start uses content credits from your workspace, and every AI image one more. Drafts you already started always finish; when credits run out, new pieces wait until they reset or you add credits. What each piece costs is on How credits work.
What is it about?#
Most kinds ask What is it about? and offer up to three choices.
| Choice | What you give | Measured by Proof? |
|---|---|---|
| A topic | The subject in your own words, 3 to 300 characters. | No. The piece shows "Not measured: no questions targeted." |
| Your questions | One or more questions you already track. | Yes. Proof re-checks them 7 and 21 days after the piece goes live. |
| One of your pages | A live page from the list, or any page address on your site. | Only if that page targets tracked questions. |
Which choices you see depends on the kind:
- New page, Edit an existing page and the "Get mentioned" kinds: A topic and Your questions.
- LinkedIn post, LinkedIn article, X thread and Short video script: all three.
- Syndicate a page: One of your pages only.
How many questions you can pick: one for a LinkedIn post, an X thread, a short video script, a Reddit reply and a press release. Up to 6 for the rest. See Questions, answers and engines and Proof.
Kinds#
New page#
A new article on your site that answers a question or a topic. You choose the length and the images (see Article length and Images). Click Write the draft. Then review every sentence in the studio and publish. See Publishing.
You can also name a page that AI cites today as the benchmark to beat (optional), and a place where the article will live (optional).
Edit an existing page#
Improves a page you already have. You give the address of the page to rewrite. You see every change as a diff before anything goes live. Then you publish the changes or copy them to your site.
LinkedIn post#
One post for your LinkedIn profile, about 900 to 1,300 characters, with a hook and a question or link at the end. No images. You post it yourself, then mark it posted with its link.
LinkedIn article#
An article for LinkedIn plus a short post to share it. No images. You post both yourself, then mark it posted.
X thread#
A thread of 5 to 8 posts, each under 280 characters. No images. You post it yourself, then mark it posted.
Short video script#
A 45 to 60 second script for Reels, Shorts or TikTok: a hook, the beats and a call to action. You film and post it yourself.
Reddit reply#
A short, disclosed reply that says who you are in its first line. Give the address of the thread. You post it in the thread yourself, then mark it posted.
Outreach to an author#
A short email with a subject line to the author of a page AI cites. You can fill in the author, the publication, the title of their piece and how to reach them. You send it yourself, then mark it sent.
Data pitch to a journalist#
A short email with three data points and a chart from your own results. It needs a finished check, so run one from AI answers first. You send it yourself.
Press release#
A release with a plain headline, the facts and a link to your site. Choose the kind of news (Launch, New feature or New data) and write the news in a line or two. You send it to a wire or to press yourself, then mark it sent.
Review drive#
A short email to customers with the link to the review site you name. You send it yourself.
Syndicate a page#
Your page republished as it is, with a link back to the original on every copy. Dev.to and Hashnode post for you once connected. Medium and LinkedIn you post yourself, then mark posted. See Dev.to and Hashnode.
Article length#
New pages come in two formats. You pick one under Length before the draft is written. Landing pages started from an opportunity are always answer-first.
| Format | When to use it |
|---|---|
| Answer-first | The direct answer first, then the next questions a reader has, a worked example, how to choose and an FAQ. About 1,100–1,600 words. |
| Long-form | A deeper piece. About 1,800–2,800 words. |
The exact ranges Prefera asks the writer for:
| Format | Words of body | Shown in the app as |
|---|---|---|
| Answer-first | 1,100–1,600 | Answer-first, about 1,100–1,600 words |
| Long-form | 1,800–2,800 | Long-form, about 1,800–2,800 words |
You can ask for up to 10 images when a page is written. A page holds at most 10 images inside, written and added together, plus its cover.
Autopilot can also write a mix: long-form for comparison, best-for, how-to and guide pages, and answer-first for the rest. See Autopilot and approvals.
Images#
Every new article has a cover. You can also ask for images inside the article.
- Images inside is a menu from 0 to 3. Each AI image uses one content credit, so it is capped by the credits you have left. The screen shows how many credits are left. When AI images are not offered, it says "AI images come with every paid plan".
- An article can hold at most 4 images inside, the ones written with it and the ones you add together.
- The What you'll get line sums it up, for example "Answer-first article, about 1,100–1,600 words, a cover and up to 2 images inside."
Change images in the studio#
Open the piece in the studio. In the Images section you can:
- Cover: Upload your own, New image (on plans with AI images) or Use the drawn cover.
- Each image inside: New image, Replace or Remove.
- Add an image: choose a section with Place it after, optionally describe what the AI image should show, then Upload or Generate. A generated image uses one content credit (see How credits work); an upload is free.
Uploads can be JPEG, PNG or WebP, up to 5 MB. Once a page is live its images are fixed.
Edit the text and use the toolbar#
In the studio, switch to Edit text to change the draft. You can only edit before the piece is live. The text is Markdown underneath. Your site's theme decides fonts, colours and sizes. Every save re-checks each sentence against your facts.
The toolbar above the text writes the Markdown for you.
| Button | What it does (tooltip) |
|---|---|
| H2 | Heading 2 |
| H3 | Heading 3 |
| B | Bold (Ctrl+B) |
| I | Italic (Ctrl+I) |
| Link | Link (Ctrl+K) |
| • List | Bulleted list |
| 1. List | Numbered list |
| Table | Insert table (a 2 by 2 starter) |
| Image | Insert image after this section. Opens Add an image at the section where your cursor is. Only for new articles that are not live yet |
| undo and redo arrows | Undo, Redo |
On a Mac, use Cmd instead of Ctrl.
Your blog, in your words#
Tell Prefera what kind of blog you want. Plans and new articles follow it. It sets the subject and the audience. Claims still come only from your approved facts.
- Open Brand style in the sidebar.
- On the Voice tab, find Your blog, in your words.
- Fill in What should your blog be? (up to 1,500 characters). Optionally fill in Who reads it, Topics to focus on, Topics to stay away from, Always include and Anything else (up to 300 characters each).
- Click Save blog brief. Leave everything empty to remove it.
Brand style#
Brand style has two tabs.
Voice#
Give Prefera three to five posts you published, as links or pasted text, or click Use my site pages and tick three to five. Click Derive my voice. Prefera writes a short voice guide: tone, sentences, person, formality, words you use and avoid, and formatting. You can edit every line and click Save guide. Rewrite in my voice previews a paragraph.
Voice changes how drafts sound. It never changes the claims. Every fact, price and figure still comes only from your approved facts. The tab also has Learned from your edits (rules added when you change the same word the same way in two drafts, each with a Remove button) and Author line (a name and short bio under new articles, and an optional "Reviewed by").
Covers#
Pick how page covers look. Previews are drawn in your logo and colours. Covers carry only your name, the page type and a short subject, never a competitor's logo or a claim.
| Style | What it is |
|---|---|
| Editorial | Your brand colour with the subject in a serif display face. The default. |
| Illustrated | A flat, hand-drawn style scene in soft tints of your colours. |
| Minimal | Type on a light wash of your colour with a quiet dot pattern. |
| Photo | A photo of the page's subject under an overlay in your colour. |
Click Use this style to switch. Generated illustrations and photos are AI images: each costs 1 content credit, on every paid plan. Without a paid plan, Illustrated is drawn for every page and a Photo cover shows the Minimal look. See Plans, add-ons and billing.
After you create#
The draft opens in the studio. Review the flagged claims, edit if needed, then publish or mark it as posted. See Publishing. Pieces you made are listed under Fixes, where you can filter by goal, status and search.
