Publishing
Send an article to a connected site, publish to several sites, schedule it, take it down, or mark a piece as posted or sent by hand.
Publishing happens in the studio of a piece. With a connected site, Prefera sends the article there as a draft first. It goes live only when you press Publish live. Without one, you publish it yourself and mark it as published.
Destinations#
On-site pieces (new pages) can go to the publishing connections you have that fit the piece. In the studio, the Publish to section lists them. The ones Prefera can send to:
| Destination | What Prefera creates |
|---|---|
| Host it on Prefera | A page on your Prefera-hosted blog, no CMS needed. See Prefera-hosted blog |
| WordPress | A draft post or page |
| Webflow | A draft CMS item |
| Shopify | An unpublished blog article |
| Framer | A draft CMS item |
| HubSpot | A draft blog post |
| Ghost | A draft post |
| Notion | A page in your database |
| Wix | A draft blog post |
| GitHub / MDX | A pull request |
| Your own site | Signed JSON to your endpoint |
To connect one, open Integrations in the sidebar. Setup for each is in Connect your site (CMS). How many sites you can connect depends on your plan; see Plans, add-ons and billing.
Edits to an existing page are different. An edit goes only to the site that hosts that page, and a page edit can't go to several sites. If no connected site hosts the page, the studio lists the other ways: Copy, Copy as prompt for your coding agent, MCP, or GitHub.
Off-site pieces (posts, replies, emails) are never published to a site. See Mark as posted or sent.
Publish to one site#
- Open the piece from Fixes.
- Resolve any flagged claims. The button says "Resolve N flagged claims first" until you do. (If you set the fact check to publish anyway, the studio notes that it will.) See Facts and the fact check.
- Click Create {site} draft. The draft appears on your site.
- Check it, then click Publish live on {site}.
After it is live, Proof re-checks the questions the piece targets. See Proof.
Publish to several sites#
In Publish to, tick more than one site. This shows:
Publishing the same article on more than one of your sites splits the credit between the copies: Google and AI engines pick one copy to show, and it may not be the one you want. The first site is the original; the others point to it (canonical link) where that site allows it.
Here is how it works:
- Choose which site is the Original with the radio button next to it. The first site you tick is the original by default.
- The original is published first. Its live address is then passed to each copy as the canonical link.
- Sites where Prefera can set the canonical link: Ghost, HubSpot, GitHub (front matter), Prefera-hosted pages and the webhook payload. The other sites ignore it.
- Click Save destinations.
- After the original is live, click Publish to the other sites to make the copies live.
Your plan limits how many sites one article can go to.
Schedule a publish#
For each ticked site, change Publish now to Schedule, then pick a day and time. Times use your workspace clock, shown under the list as "Times are in ...". Click Save destinations.
- Pick a time in the future.
- With several sites, schedule the original first (or publish it now). Copies must be scheduled at or after the original, so they can point to it.
- Prefera checks for due publishes every 10 minutes and publishes as the person who scheduled them, if they still may. If they no longer can, or the plan no longer covers that many sites, the piece is not published. The studio shows the reason and you publish from the page.
- To cancel, click Cancel schedule next to that site. Nothing is published.
Unpublish#
On a live on-site piece, click Unpublish and confirm "Take this page off your site?". The site keeps it as a draft, and Proof stops its re-check.
For a page edit, the button is Undo the change. It restores the earlier version.
Stop tracking keeps the page where it is but ends re-checks. Take it down on your site yourself if you want it gone.
Mark as published#
Not connected, or you published by hand? Open the piece and click Mark as published. Paste the live address in Where is it live? and confirm. Prefera then checks the targeted questions again after 7 days, against the control questions.
Mark as posted or sent#
Off-site pieces are posted or sent by you, as you. Prefera never posts them for you. After you do, open the piece and click:
- Mark as posted for a Reddit reply, a LinkedIn post or article, an X thread, a short video script or a syndicated copy. The link is optional (for example "Link to your LinkedIn post").
- Mark as sent for outreach, a data pitch, a press release or a review drive.
Posted pieces show a Posted tag with the link in Fixes. A piece made from a topic only is not measured by Proof. See Create.
Agents can mark pieces as posted too. See Connect an agent (MCP).
