Prefera can read your Google Search Console and Google Analytics 4 data. Both are read only. Prefera never changes anything in your Google account.

What Prefera reads#

ConnectionWhat the tile says it gives you
Google Search ConsoleQueries, pages and countries, read only.
Google Analytics 4Which pages get visits after a fix.

The Search Console connection asks Google for read-only access to Search Console. The Analytics connection asks for read-only access to Analytics.

Connect#

Search Console and Analytics are connected separately. Repeat these steps for each one.

  1. Open Integrations. In Data sources, find Google Search Console or Google Analytics 4.
  2. Click Connect. You go to Google.
  3. Sign in and approve the read-only access.
  4. You come back to Integrations, connected.
  5. Choose the property (see below).

If a tile shows Unavailable with a Why button, Google sign-in is not available on this Prefera account right now. Click Why for the reason.

Pick a property#

The connection belongs to one brand. After you connect, the tile shows a menu called "Property for" the product, with Pick a property as the first option. Choose the property that matches this brand's site.

Until you pick one, the tile reads "Connected. Pick the property for this brand."

You can change the property later from the same menu. Choosing a different Analytics property is treated as a different site, so the data read from the old property is deleted.

If it stops working#

When the connection fails, the tile shows Needs attention with the reason. Click Reconnect and approve again.

Disconnect#

  1. On the tile, click Disconnect.
  2. Read the confirmation. Optionally tick Also delete the Search Console data now (or Also delete the Analytics data now for Analytics).
  3. Click Disconnect.

Prefera stops using the data at once. What happens to the data next:

  • By default, it is held for 30 days. The data Prefera derived from Google is set aside. No screen, report, export or email can see it during that time. After 30 days it is deleted.
  • Reconnect the same property within 30 days and your history comes back.
  • Connect a different property, and the held data is deleted.
  • Tick the delete box and the data is deleted immediately instead of held.

What it is used for#

Prefera reads your own analytics to show which fixes brought visits, signups and revenue. If Google Analytics is connected, it is used first for Traffic and revenue. See Results and analytics, and Analytics: PostHog, Plausible, DataFast for the other sources.
