Autopilot is a set of settings. Each one is off until you turn it on. This page covers the content plan settings, Answer Pages Autopilot and Social autopilot, and how you approve, skip or replace what they produce.

A content plan comes with a paid plan. Answer Pages and their Autopilot appear only on plans that include them. See [Plans, add-ons and billing](/docs/account/plans).

## Content plan autopilot

The content plan is on **Content plan** in the sidebar. Before you start, the screen shows **Your first 30 days**. Click **Use this plan** to start. You can change the days, move or skip any piece after.

A strip at the top of the calendar says whether anything happens without you:

- **Autopilot: Off.** Drafts are written when you click **Draft now**, and nothing goes live without you.
- **Autopilot on:** shows what is automatic. Click **Change** (or **Turn on**) to open the settings.

You can also click **Cadence and automation**. These are the settings in it:

| Setting | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| **Publishing days** | The days pieces are planned for. |
| **Pieces a week** | How many pieces a week, from 1 to 14. Your content credits also cap the calendar: when they run out, new pieces wait until they reset or you add credits. See [How credits work](/docs/account/credits). |
| **Content mix** | What a month of pieces covers. |
| **Autopilot articles** | The format and images of articles that automatic drafts write. See below. |
| **Time of day** | When a piece goes live or is posted on its day. You can move any single piece from its card. |
| **Auto-draft** | Writes each draft a few days before its day (1 to 7 days ahead), from your approved facts. Drafts wait for your approval. |
| **Auto-publish** | New pages that pass every check publish on their day, without waiting for your approval. Needs a connected site. |
| **Also publish page edits automatically** | Shown when Auto-publish is on. Edits go live by themselves only if they pass the extra checks. You get an email with what changed and an **Undo** link. |

Click **Save** to apply.

### What Auto-publish checks

Only new on-site pages that pass every check publish by themselves:

- Every claim is backed by an approved fact.
- Links go only to your site and your fact sources.
- The page is written in your market's language.

Anything else waits for you, with the reason. Reddit replies, outreach emails and other off-site pieces always wait for you. Page edits wait unless you switch on the page edits setting. Turn Auto-publish off at any time.

A page edit goes live by itself only if it passes the usual checks, is sent only to the site that hosts that page, keeps every price, heading and number of the earlier page, and changes no more than 40% of its words.

## Choose what Autopilot writes

The **Autopilot articles** setting is shared by the content plan and Answer Pages. Pick:

| Choice | What gets written |
| --- | --- |
| **Answer-first** | About 1,100–1,600 words. |
| **Long-form** | About 1,800–2,800 words. |
| **Mix** | Long-form for comparison, best-for, how-to and guide pages. Answer-first for the rest. |

Set **Images inside each article** from 0 to 3. The line under the setting sums it up. The exact ranges:

| Format | Words of body | Shown in the app as |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Answer-first | 1,100–1,600 | Answer-first, about 1,100–1,600 words |
| Long-form | 1,800–2,800 | Long-form, about 1,800–2,800 words |

You can ask for up to 10 images when a page is written. A page holds at most 10 images inside, written and added together, plus its cover.

You set it in **Cadence and automation** or on the **Answer Pages** tab, where it reads "Autopilot writes." For the formats, see [Create](/docs/create#article-length).

## Answer Pages autopilot

On plans that include Answer Pages, open **Content plan** and click the **Answer Pages** tab. The page lists the month's pages.

1. Click **Plan this month**, then **Approve plan**. Or approve pages one by one. **Approve N clean drafts** approves every draft with no claims to check.
2. To change a page's publish day, click the date on its row and pick a new day.
3. For a page that is still planned, pick its length and images before the draft is written.
4. Turn on the **Publish passing pages automatically** switch under **Autopilot**.

With Autopilot on, pages that pass every check publish on their day. These are the checks:

- Every claim is backed by one of your approved facts.
- Nothing is guessed. Places, audiences and prices come from facts you confirmed.
- Links and images lead only to your own site and the sources of your facts.
- The page is written in the language of your market.
- Its cover is ready.
- Your site is connected, so it can go live.

A page that does not pass waits for you, with the reason on the plan. Details:

- New pages go out at a steady pace: 2 a week on a site under 30 pages, 4 under 100, 8 above. The rest are queued for the following days.
- Autopilot only publishes pages whose day comes after you turned it on. Earlier pages wait for your approval.
- After each publish you get an email with what went live, with a one-click Unpublish for every page.
- Row tags tell you the state: **Published by Autopilot**, **Queued: publishing at a steady pace**, **Autopilot is waiting for you**.

### Autopilot publishes to

If you have connected sites, **Autopilot publishes to** lists them. Tick one or more. If you tick two or more, the same warning as in [Publishing](/docs/publishing#publish-to-several-sites) appears: copies split the credit. The first one is the original. Without a connected site, Autopilot has nowhere to publish; connect one in **Integrations** (see [Connect your site (CMS)](/docs/integrations/cms)).

## Social autopilot

In **Cadence and automation**, the section **When an article goes live, also draft** has three switches:

- **LinkedIn post**
- **X thread**
- **Short video script**

When an article goes live, Prefera drafts the ones you switched on, from that article.

- It drafts at most once per article and kind.
- Each draft uses one content credit (its AI image, if any, one more). It waits when your content credits or spending limit are used up, and Autopilot carries on once credits are back.
- Prefera never posts them. You post each from your own account, then mark it posted. See [Publishing](/docs/publishing#mark-as-posted-or-sent).
- One alert, "N social posts ready to post", tells you how many are ready. You can set this under alert preferences as **Social posts ready to post**.

Find the drafts under **Fixes**, with the **Social posts** filter.

## Approve, skip or replace

### On the calendar

Click a piece to open its card. Depending on its stage you see:

- **Approve** for a draft that is ready.
- **Draft now** to write it before autopilot would.
- **Move** to another day or time.
- **Swap for another question** to replace it.
- **Skip**, or **Skip and drop the draft** if it already has one.

You can also drag a piece to another day, or onto another piece to swap their days. Skipped pieces collect under **Skipped**, each with **Put back**.

### On the Answer Pages tab

Each row has **Approve**, **Skip** (take it out of the plan), **Put back**, and for approved pages **Publish now** or **Mark published**. **Unpublish** takes a published page back off your site.

### The Approvals screen

**Approvals** in the sidebar is for agents, not for autopilot. It lists what your connected agents asked to publish or send, when you set them to "Ask me in Prefera first". **Approve** runs the request once, as you. **Deny** drops it. Requests expire after 72 hours. Autopilot drafts are approved on the **Content plan** instead. See [Permissions, approvals and limits](/docs/agents/permissions).
